Coreworks® S.A. is a
leading provider of Semiconductor Intellectual Property (SIP) for
multi-standard multimedia and communications applications, such as DTV, IPTV,
portable audio players, mobile internet devices, software defined radio, and
more. Our products have been implemented in a wide variety of technologies, for
more than 30 customers worldwide.
Our products include
digital audio encoders and decoders such as Dolby Digital, Dolby E, Dolby
Digital Plus, Dolby Pulse, Advanced Audio Coding (AAC and AAC+), MPEG1/2 Layers
1/2, digital audio interfaces such as SPDIF/AES-EBU, TDM, I2S, and asynchronous
sample rate converters. We also provide area and power efficient mixed-radix
FFT cores.
Coreworks' products rely on
the SideWorks™ patent pending technology for automatically creating pre-silicon
configurable and post-silicon reconfigurable hardware
accelerators. Coreworks' products also benefit from the FaceWorks™
patented technology for prototyping SIP using an FPGA board connected to a user
workstation via a high bandwidth local area network. Our solutions achieve
three to five times more efficiency in terms of silicon area and power
consumption, compared to the competition.
Coreworks was founded in
2001 by two professors of the Technical University of Lisbon (IST), who managed
a Reconfigurable Computing research group on at the Institute for Systems
and Computer Engineering R&D (INESC-ID). The company received an A-series
investment round from Espírito Santo Ventures in 2006. Since then Coreworks has
been a recipient of three R&D grants from the Portuguese government.
Vision
Multimedia and communications applications will become even more pervasive, demanding IP cores with the highest performance, smallest area and lowest power consumption.
Mission
To provide our customers with the best DSP acceleration solution and many accessory IP cores, while maintaining the lowest power consumption and smallest die area.
